Investigators determined that the Alexander Mountain fire, which burned nearly 10,000 acres in northern Colorado and destroyed 51 structures, was human caused. The fire was sparked July 29, 2024, west of Loveland in Larimer County. The fire burned over 10,000 acres. The fire destroyed 26 homes and damaged at least four others, according to a report by the Larimer County Assessor. Twenty-one outbuildings were also destroyed.
As a photographer it was saddening to witness but beautiful to capture. I spent 5 days capturing the fire and all that it brought. Wildfires do bring new soil and growth to the landscape in which they burn.
